Castres to discuss Urios’ future after Top 14 triumph
After leading Castres past Montpellier and to a fifth Top 14 title, head Christophe Urios dominated the post-final fallout.
Castres president Pierre-Yves Revol said he will hold talks with head coach Christophe Urios amid uncertainty over his future following the team’s shock Top 14 victory.
There was an upset in the Top 14 final on Saturday as Castres upstaged Montpellier 29-13 in an absorbing clash at the Stade de France.
Urios offered no guarantees over his future heading into the decider as the 52-year-old seeks assurances regarding Castres’ plans moving forward.
Asked about Urios – who is under contract until 2019 – after the triumphant display, Revol said: “We’re going to have a few drinks together and we’ll speak again on Monday before his departure to New Zealand [where Urios will lead the Barbarians on their tour].”
Revol added: “He is in contracted until next year so it’s not really a topical issue.”

Castres only qualified for the finals by claiming the sixth and final play-off berth as Montpellier finished top of the table during the regular season.
And Castres celebrated their fifth title and second in six years thanks to Benjamin Urdapilleta, who finished with 19 points.
“We are happy of course. I think we are not far from making the perfect match, especially in the first half,” Urios told Canal+.
“Montpellier had an easy match against Lyon, while for us it was a fight every time. We were ready. We had to be very good. My biggest pride of the game is that we beat them to their strong point.”
