Crusaders’ class outdoes the Lions
The Crusaders, on their night in Christchurch, were simply too good for the brave yet travelling Lions side.
The Crusaders emerged 37-18 victors, after leading 20-6 at half time. Therein securing their 9th title in a tournament that has run for 23 years.

A 17 point, man of the match performance by flyhallf Richie Mo’unga, coupled with four tries teammates from Seta Tamanivalu, David Havili, Mitchell Drummond and Scott Barrett, outdid the Lions’ two tries (Cyle Brink and Malcolm Marx) as well as an error full performance from their flyhalf Elton Jantjies, who added a conversion and two penalties to the cause.
The Crusaders, in their 10th win from 11 games against the Lions, also overtake them as the top try scoring side in the competition.
