Who is the new Springboks No 10 Vusi Moyo?
An injury to Sacha-Feinberg Mngomezulu has fast tracked another rising star for the Springboks.
Rassie Erasmus has raved about his newest Springboks No 10 Vusi Moyo. But just who is the new kid on rugby’s international block?
Erasmus named Moyo as one of six uncapped players in his Nations Championship Springboks squad of 46.
Moyo made his international debut as a second half replacement against the Barbarians at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
He kicked the last conversion in the Boks 80-31 win. It was the most points ever conceded by the Barbarians and the biggest win by the Springboks against the Barbarians.
Springboks captain Siya Kolisi is a big fan of Moyo and the rest of South Africa’s next generation of Springboks.
The 20 year-old Moyo was the Junior Springboks starting No 10 in last year’s under 20 World Championship title win. He was the back-up No 10 to Yaqeen Ahmed in the Junior Springboks title-winning 2026 Sanzaar Rugby Championship campaign, played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha a few months ago.
The 19 year-old Ahmed was picked for the SA ‘A’ team that beat Zimbabwe 45-0. He scored a try and kicked three conversions before getting red carded for a dangerous tackle.
Ahmed, a Wynberg Boys High product and part of the Stormers training group, will play No 10 for the Junior Springboks at next month’s under 20 World Championship.
Erasmus named SA under 20 lock and captain Riley Norton and Moyo among the six uncapped players.
Moyo is the latest Springbok produced by King Edward VII School (KES) in Johannesburg. He matriculated in 2024. He played SA Schools in 2024 and SA under 20 in 2025, having signed for the Sharks.
