Stormers edge out Bulls in Cape Town
The Stormers have now won eight consecutive home matches against the Bulls after outscoring their South Africa rivals by three tries to two.
The Bulls’ long wait for a win over the Stormers in Cape Town goes on after they were beaten 24-23 in a Super Rugby thriller on Saturday.
The Stormers have now won eight consecutive home matches against their South Africa rivals, but they were pushed all the way at Newlands.
Sergeal Petersen and Seabelo Senatla crossed in the first half, but three Handre Pollard penalties kept the Bulls in touch at 14-9 down at the break.
A converted Ivan van Zyl try edged the Bulls in front for the first time in a tense encounter, but a Josh Stander penalty and Herschel Jantjies’ try made it advantage the Stormers once again.
Manie Libbok dotted down right at the end and Pollard added the extras, but there was no time for the Bulls to claim back-to-back victories.
The win for the Robbie Fleck’s men leaves them just a point behind their second-placed opponents in the South Africa Conference.
