Castle Lager invests big with Springboks fans for BokTown

Castle Lager have been big and bold in their investment with the fans of the world champion Springboks. They are bringing back the popular BokTown in a national circuit that celebrates 10 of this season’s Bok matches.
Castle Lager, long associated with the biggest national sporting brands in South Africa, have responded to the call to give the fans the best seat in the house, outside of being at the stadium.
They’ve put together a schedule that includes Saturday’s Barbarians match against the Springboks in Cape Town and nine of the Boks’ Test matches this season.
The circuit will be national and starts in Johannesburg this Saturday, the 28th June, and concludes in Benoni when the Boks play Ireland in Dublin on 22nd November.
The Castle Lager BokTowns coincide with match times that make it appropriate for the beer to flow.
The two Test matches against the All Blacks in New Zealand start at 9am SA time; hence they are not on the schedule.
The Boks play the Barbarians on Saturday in the first match ever played in South Africa between the Boks and rugby’s most famous invitational club.
The Boks have won three Tests and drawn one in eight matches against the Barbarians.
The last time the Boks beat the Barbarians was 25 years ago, in Cardiff. The Boks won 41-31.
THE MOST CELEBRATED SPRINGBOKS TO HAVE PLAYED FOR THE BARBARIANS
The day is set up as a full-scale festival: live sets from GoodLuck, Shekinah, Loufi, and 4am.band, plus a battle between Jacaranda FM favourite, Barney Simon and Alex Jay. Add food markets, appearances by Springboks, Springbok Legends and activations from fellow Springbok partners, and every fan will feel the green-and-gold gees from first whistle to last.
“Boktown turns every Test into a nationwide gathering,” said Thomas Lawrence, Castle Lager Brand Director.
“From the anthem to the final whistle, we want fans shoulder-to-shoulder, singing, cheering and making memories. With our partners on board, we’ve packed the day with music, legends and family fun so everyone goes home smiling.”
“Springbok rugby is more than a match-day; it’s the country’s heartbeat,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby. “Castle Lager Boktown carries that heartbeat into towns and cities across the country, giving supporters everywhere a front-row view while offering partners a stage to enrich the Springbok story.”
