Blitzboks the ultimate in STECO Hybrid Power Tool Hero
The world champions Blitzboks were all green, gold and powerful.
The STECO Hybrid Power Tool Hero of the Week could have gone to any one of the brilliant Blitzboks, who won gold in Hong Kong. But only one player gets the weekly aware.
Keo and Zels, each week, pick a player whose contribution is the very definition of a Hybrid Power Tool
Keo to Zels: The way you’ve spoken, brother, we can’t be looking at URC, Top 14, Japan, English Prem. We have to be looking at Sevens this week.
31:30 Zels
Gershwin Wehr from Griquas he’s my pick.
31:34 – Zels
Nah, I’m kidding.
31:36 – Keo
He was just getting excited there. Thought he was going to get something from Steco.
The honourable mentions for me from the URC would’ve been Quan Horn’s try against Glasgow and then Sacha beating what felt like 10 players to score. Absolutely sensational solo effort.
32:03 – Zels
But for me the award has to go to Selvyn Davids. Pick any one of his tries. He scored a double in the final. He was amazing.
The footwork and speed were incredible. Uruguay are still looking for him.
So for me, he’s the Hybrid Power Tools hero this week.
32:20 – Keo
And I’m not going to complain.
You could have picked three or four tries from the URC. Marco van Staden coming on and doing incredible stuff for the Bulls. Five of those Lions tries.
You could have picked Ox Nche being able to go on for 40 minutes and not have to scrum I mean, that’s hybrid.
32:44 – Keo
Cheslin Kolbe doing everything in Japan at the moment: playing fullback, kicking poles, kicking touch, scoring tries.
But those Sevens boys.
What I loved about it was: 31-12, hammered by Spain in the first game, then they sneak past a few tough moments, came back against Kenya, scored two tries in the last 90 seconds to win it, and then went through and pumped Argentina.
Wonderful display and wonderful way to win it.
33:12 – Keo
And I fully concur with you, Mr Nel.
That is the Steco Power Play Hero of the Week.
The Blitzboks won the Hong Kong title for the first time in the 50 year history of the tournament.
