Sharks crush Cheetahs
The Sharks were too strong for the Cheetahs second stringers and the Lions finally got a win in the latest round of the Currie Cup.
The Sharks top the table after a crushing 45-15 win against a side that realistically were never going to win in Durban.
The Cheetahs effectively were a club combination playing a Sharks team with loads of Super Rugby experience.
It made for a miserable weekend for Cheetahs supporters.
The Cheetahs were forced to field their second stringers because the first team squad played in Friday night’s Guinness Pro 14 opener against Ulster in Belfast.
And the result in Durban was equally disappointing to what happened in Belfast. The Cheetahs lost to Ulster 42-19 and in Durban the Sharks win was even more emphatic.
The Lions, with just one victory going into the home match against the Pumas, scored five tries to four to win 29-28. The victors remain seventh out of seven teams on the log, despite the win.
The Bulls also won for just the third time in seven matches when they beat Griquas 44-42 on Friday evening.
