Erasmus says claiming Rugby Championship not the “ultimate goal”
The All Blacks secured the Rugby Championship title for the 6th time this past weekend, yet the Springboks having not won it are still in a far better place than previous years.
The Springboks prepare to host the All Blacks this weekend for their final Rugby Championship encounter, but do so knowing that the clash will have no bearing on who wins the tournament, as the All Blacks ensured their victory with a 35-17 win over Argentina this past Saturday.
By the same token, the Boks will finish runners up, regardless of the result, in an effort superior to previous Rugby Championship showings.
Coach Rassie Erasmus spoke however of the growth of the side thus far, saying that winning the Rugby Championship was not the ultimate goal.
“We just took it game for game and tried to get better week after week.
“I think there has been growth and that was our ultimate goal.”
