Jaguares weather late storm for fourth consecutive win
The Jaguares trail the Bulls and the Sharks by only a point after clinging on to defeat the Stormers.
The in-form Jaguares hung on to extend their winning run to four Super Rugby matches with a 30-25 defeat of the Stormers.
Gonzalo Quesada’s side are just a point behind the Bulls and the Sharks in the South African Conference after digging deep for victory at Estadio Jose Amalfitani on Saturday.
Pablo Matera’s early try put the Buenos Aires franchise in front and a second penalty from Domingo Miotti on the stroke of half-time gave them a 13-9 lead following three successful shots at goal from Jean-Luc Du Plessis.
Du Plessis was on target again to reduce the deficit but Ramiro Moyano scrambled his way over in the corner and a penalty try eight minutes from time gave the Jaguares further breathing space.
The Stormers were not finished yet, Seabelo Senatla scoring their only try after a pair of Damian Willemse penalties, but they had to settle for a bonus point after ramping up the pressure at the end without reward.
Defeat for the Stormers leaves them three points back from the Jaguares.
