All Blacks influence stretches to America
The All Blacks’ influence spreads far among the rugby world, but it’s becoming apparent that their ideology and culture is inspiring teams in other sporting spheres. Most recently, NHL side, the Florida Panthers.
Nzherald.co.za reports that the book “Legacy”, which explains the All Blacks’ success-driven guiding principles, inspired Panthers coach Bob Boughner. Boughner went on to fill the locker room with motivational quotes and words intending to replicate the “winning culture of the All Blacks”, whilst adding to a sense of identity and a team vision.
New Zealand’s Maoris also share influence in the Panthers’ locker room, with a special Maori All Blacks jersey presented post-match to be worn by the man of the match.
The underlying trend of the All Blacks culture and that which Boughner wishes to emulate at the Panthers is a team driven mindset. The focus should not be on individual gain but on the collective success of the side.
Boughner intends to continue to use the All Blacks as a model for his team’s culture to be built upon.
