Alun Wyn Jones unimpressed with Eddie Jones comments
Eddie Jones’ Wales slur was “probably a poor choice of words”, Alun Wyn Jones said on Friday.
Alun Wyn Jones has described Eddie Jones’ description of Wales as a “little s*** place” as a “poor choice of words.”
England head coach Jones unreservedly apologised for the offensive comments made at a sponsor event last July.
Wales captain Jones was unimpressed with the remarks made by the Australian, who also called the Irish “scummy”.
“Eddie talks a lot and what he says, he says,” said the British and Irish Lion, who refused to divulge whether he had other offers after signing a new National Dual Contract on Friday.
“But whatever he said about Wales, it’s my country.
“I’m not here to say whether what someone has said is good or bad, though it’s probably a poor choice of words on his part.”
The Wales skipper has mixed emotions about his side’s Six Nations campaign as they prepare to face France at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.
“We started better than we have in recent years then a couple of games went astray with average starts and opportunities at the end.” said the lock, who returns to lead his country in Cardiff after missing the win over Italy.
“We’re disappointed not to be vying for the championship in the last game but there have been pleasing points in our performances. Hopefully the strength in depth is there.”
