Cheslin brings “extra zip” – Proudfoot
After a surprise inclusion in the Springboks’ touring squad last week, Cheslin Kolbe joined the Boks in Brisbane for their first training session on Monday.
Kolbe will tour with the side for their Australasian leg of the Rugby Championship,
Speaking to the press, one of the assistant coach’s Matt Proudfoot spoke of Kolbe among the side’s intentions to focus on consistency and execution this weekend.
“We are excited to have Cheslin in the side; I think he deserves his chance in the group because I think he has really performed well (in France for Toulouse),” said Proudfoot.
“He’s an exciting player and he can create out of nothing and I think we’re looking for that extra zip.
“I obviously know him well from my coaching days at the Stormers, and he is type of player who can really create something out of nothing.
The Springboks resumed their preparations for the clash against Australia with some technical sessions at their Brisbane hotel, before heading to the Churchie Grammar School for a field session in the late afternoon.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus will announce the starting side to face Australia on Thursday.
