Bulls United Rugby Championship 2026/27 Fixtures historically guarantee the Pretoria-based club three wins from nine away matches, which is always the measurement of a club’s league success.

If one takes the Bulls’ 2026/27 away schedule and cross-check it against the first five URC seasons (2021/22 to 2025/26), these are the teams have previously lost to away from home in the URC era.

2026/27 Away Opponent Bulls away losses in first five URC league seasons
Munster 1
Lions 2
Hollywoodbets Sharks 1
DHL Stormers 2
Benetton 0
Leinster 3
Ospreys 0
Cardiff Rugby 1
Zebre Parma 0

Historically, the Bulls’ toughest away assignment among this fixture list has been Leinster, with three away defeats in Dublin across the opening five URC seasons.

Notable trends from the first five seasons:

  • The Bulls have never lost away to Zebre, Benetton or Ospreys in the URC era.
  • South African derbies away from home have been far less forgiving:
    • two losses at Ellis Park to the Lions,
    • two defeats in Cape Town to the Stormers,
    • one away loss to the Sharks in Durban.
  • Cardiff have beaten the Bulls once in Wales.

The Bulls this past season won 12 from 18 matches to finish with 59 league points.

The Bulls will host Munster in this season’s quarter-finals on the 30th May. They are South Africa’s most competitive team in the tournament’s history, having played in three of the past four finals. They hosted one and lost to the Stormers in Cape Town and Leinster in Dublin. They lost to Glasgow in their home final.

If they beat Munster, who they edged in Pretoria in the league rounds, they will in all likelihood travel to Glasgow for the semi-final. They played Glasgow in the last 16 of the Investec Champions Cup and lost in the final minutes.

They started the season poorly in 2025/26, winning three from eight, but won nine from their last 10 matches.

They are considered the form South African team going into the play-offs, and have thrived under new coach Johan Ackermann.

The Bulls will be without the inspirational lock Ruan Nortje next season. He will play his club rugby in Japan.
