Seabelo Senatla sizzles for brilliant Blitzboks
Seabelo Senatla scored his 200th try in just his 35th International Sevens tournament.
The South Africa flyer did it in front of his home crowd at a capacity Cape Town Stadium in the second of the Blitzboks’ three games.
England’s Dan Norton, the first player to 200 tries on the World Series, did so in 51 tournaments.
Senatla started the day on 196 tries and scored three in his first match, the all-important 200th the next time out and he rounded off the day with a telling score as South Africa beat Kenya 26-7.
South Africa earlier had beaten Russia 40-5 and France 31-5.
The Blitzoks will play Olympic champions Fiji in Sunday’s quarter-finals after Canada stunned the Fijians into second place in the pool stages.
The United States, like the South Africans, were outstanding in winning all three matches. The USA hammered New Zealand 22-0 and humbled Australia 31-14. The Kiwis, who recovered to beat Spain 50-0, then beat Australia 35-12 to reach the main draw quarter-finals against England.
Quarter-final times
SA v Fiji 12.04
