Super Saders crush Chiefs
The Crusaders scored four tries to one in an emphatic Super Rugby semi-final win against the Chiefs in Christchurch.
The only surprise was how few actually turned up to watch the home side cruise to victory.
The Crusaders won 27-13 after leading 27-6 with just two minutes to go.
A week earlier the Crusaders hammered the Highlanders 17-0 in an equally one-sided quarter-final.
The Crusaders, in the quarter-final, impressed with their ball dominance and field position superiority. In the semi-final, they relied on magnificent defence to stifle the Chiefs first half onslaught and then turned every half chance into points.
The Chiefs have been one of the best attacking outfits in the competition but against the Crusaders they just couldn’t find a way through until the 78th minute.
How the Kiwi media analysed the Crusaders win
The Crusaders will travel to Johannesburg to play the Lions. Both the Crusaders and Lions won 13 of their 14 league matches.
